I had seen Allison at the temple. She had joined my shift a couple months prior to January. The temple does not lend itself well to socializing, and so I didn't really expect to actually meet her. Therefore, it was surprising when one day, after I had completed my shift and was exiting the temple, that Allison said hello, knew my name, and started a conversation with me (seemingly ignoring my roommate who was walking out with me). When I returned home, I was pretty excited. I seized the day and looked up her name on Facebook, so that we could get a conversation going. She obliged my request, and we began a week-long e-mail conversation.
I was surprised that we seemingly had so many things in common. During the week I invited her over to my house for a small movie night with my friends. The movie was fine, but I was more blown away with Allison. When my friends left the two of us alone, we had a great time together. At the end of the evening I gave her an awkward side hug, and sent her on her way, excited about the prospects of a second meeting.
It turned out that the second meeting was to be the very next day. We sent a couple of e-mails to each other in which I mentioned that there would be a game night between my friends and I. She agreed to come to said game night, and we had fun. At the end of the activity, she still was interested in hanging out with me, so we and my roommates went to my apartment for another movie. We once again hit it off splendidly. I asked her if during the next week she would like to have lunch with me. It turned out that the best day for our schedules was in fact the very next day. This led to a long string of days in which we did something together. It wasn't but a few days later that we realized we both wanted us to be boyfriend and girlfriend.
The courtship proceeded quickly. We went to Disneyland together, we said our first I love yous, and it grew more and more apparent that we were both imagining spending the rest of our lives together. It came to the point that I couldn't hold back my excitement any further, and I broached the subject of us getting married. From there, we began planning out a potential wedding. A couple weeks later, I finally bought a ring. Later that very day I took her to the front of the beautiful San Diego temple, got down on one knee, and proposed. She said yes.
Um... I LOVE this!!!
