It amazing what happens when you put yourself in the right places. Being in the right place led me to Chris. I joined the Saturday morning shift in the San Diego temple in November and had noticed him immediately. I had seen him around during our shift and thought he was really cute. There isn't too much chitchat time in the temple and so we never had the chance to actually talk. A couple of temple workers who knew we were both single suggested that we talk to each other but, the opportunity never came up. One day in early January, Chris and I happened to be leaving the temple at the same time. We struck up conversation that consisted of brief introductions and very small talk that lasted about one minute. Later that day when I went home, I found that he had requested me as a friend on Facebook. I confirmed and while looking through his pictures, I found out he was a LOST fan. I sent him a brief email saying hi. I wanted to start a conversation with him so I asked him something about LOST. He replied and we started an email conversation that lasted throughout the week. It was great. We would email each other about once a day with questions about family, work, church, hobbies, music and stuff like that. We basically got all the first date questions out of the way and I discovered that not only was he cute, he was a really cool person he was and that we had so much in common. In one of our emails, he invited me over to his house to watch a movie. Due to prior engagements on my part, this movie night didn't happen until the following Saturday night. I was a little bit nervous for the movie night but the fact that we had established the fact that we had so much in common eased my nerves. Our movie night was fun and we ended up talking for a while after it was over. He walked me to my car and being that it was January, it was very cold. Our goodbyes were brief and after he gave me a quick hug and a "maybe we can do something next week?" I was on my way. When I got home I decided that next week wasn't soon enough. I sent him an email thanking him for the evening and also mentioned that we should have a game night. He caught the hint and invited me to a game night at the Institute the following evening. We had a great time and ended up watching another movie at his house after it was over. We had were able to talk more when it was over and I discovered I really had a good time when I was around him. Also, before the night was over, he had invited me to go to lunch. I had the next day off of work for Martin Luther King day so we agreed on lunch then. He picked me up and was a perfect gentlemen, opening all my doors and everything. We went to Chili's and had a great time.
We became pretty much inseparable after this. Chris and I live fairly close so we were able to spend our evenings together. Our relationship progressed rapidly and we both knew that we didn't want to be with anybody else.
This is my favorite part: "...we both knew that we didn't want to be with anybody else."
